This was one of my favorite hikes. I had never explored this area of Idaho and the Pioneer Mountains even though I had driven by many times on my way over to Mt. Borah. The day I hiked was magical. The only other person I encountered was at the trailhead.

Payette lake in McCall, Idaho is an easy and beautiful get away from Boise.  This year my son was attending a science camp in nearby Ponderosa State Park and I was a parent volunteer.  I took my camera with me and took a few shots before camp started.  It was
